Sutton Sting are delighted to announce the signing of our first import for the forthcoming season in NIHL 1 with the addition of 25 year old Swedish defensemen Jonas Fredriksson.

Jonas joins our club from Amals SK where he spent last season playing in Sweden 2 and putting up impressive numbers, scoring at very nearly a point a game during the regular season and through 14 playoff games. Prior to this, Jonas spent 7 years playing in Canada and the US, most recently playing NCAA 3 College Hockey at St. Olaf College.

On signing for the Sting, Jonas commented. "I am extremely excited to have signed with the Sutton Sting. During my visit I was very impressed with the people around the team and their intentions of how to make the club move forward. I hope to be a part of that journey, and I will do my best to represent the Sutton Sting organization in the best possible way. I can’t wait to get the season started!"

Head Coach, Simon Butterworth added, “we are every happy that Jonas has agreed to join us next season, not only will he make our team stronger, but he will make our whole club better. A major part of what I was looking for when recruiting this summer was someone who not only wants to come in and play hockey, but also someone who wants to have a bigger impact on the club and specifically the development of our youngsters right from U9s and up, and it would seem that in Jonas we have found the perfect fit.”

“Being new to the recruitment of imports, having only ever used local based imports in the past, we thought it important to bring Jonas over this summer to skate with us and get to know the players and the club a little better before signing. We were all very impressed with Jonas, he is a great skater and moves the puck very well which I am sure will make him a great asset in all 3 zones. Moreover, through his university studies and work with young players in the states, Jonas has a lot of experience in player development both on and off the ice, which will be a great asset to our senior team and any of our younger players aspiring to take their game to the next level."

It's with great pride that we announce that Brady Doxey will again be wearing the colours of Sutton Sting next season. Brady was a huge part of the league winning team last season and gained greta experience playing with the Sheffield Steeldogs in NIHL1 whenever his busy schedule allowed him to do so.

On Brady's return, Head Coach Simon Butterworth commented "I am delighted to be able to bring Brady back next season, there was a lot if interest him from other teams within the league and so I was pleased when he decided that Sutton Sting was the best place for him to continue his development. Brady had a good year last year playing in all sorts of situations and scoring some vital goals, but for our team to be successful next season he needs to take his game to the next level and I am confident he will do just that."

"Whilst bringing Brady back was important for the team and his development, I also feel it was vital for the Sutton Sting Ice Hockey Academy. Having grown up playing for the Sting he is a great role model our junior players to look up to and see that with hard work and commitment you can go far."

Brady will be wearing #5 next season and his individual players sponsorship is available for £250, interested parties can get in touch by emailing

Sutton Sting are delighted to announce a new name to the roster for the 2018/19 season! Come September, Craig Elliott will be lacing up his boots and stepping on the ice wearing Sutton Sting's colours for the first time.

Craig brings a wealth of experience to what will be a young team, having iced for a number of years in the EPL for the Sheffield Steeldogs.

Having taken a break from hockey, Craig returned last season for the Sheffield Senators and put up some great numbers scoring 32 points in only 12 games. Head Coach Simon Butterworth was certainly impressed by what he saw, "We played against Craig and the Senators 3 times last season and every time i thought he was the best players on the ice, he skates very well, has lots of energy and is always making something happen. There was 1 player that I wanted to bring in from division 2 this summer and I am delighted we have managed to do that!"

On next season, Craig commented "I'm really happy to be playing for Sutton this season, I feel their ambition matches my own. After falling out of love with the game and taking some time off, it was nice to be back on the ice briefly last season. I am really looking forward to playing and testing myself again at this level. There are some really strong teams in this league which I feel we can compete with and hopefully pull off a few shocks."

Craig will be wearing #13 next season and his individual players sponsorship is available for £250, interested parties can get in touch by emailing

It seems fitting that our first player announcement for the 2018/19 season should be last season's captain Scott Morris. As well as captaining last season's team to the NIHL2 North league title, Scott had a great season personally, finishing second in team points and amassing 30 goals. Scott also played two games at NIHL 1 with the Nottingham Lions and so has a good idea of what level of hockey we can expect.

On his return, Scott commented "I'm looking forward to getting going this season. I think as a club/team we have made the right decision to take the step up. I am under no illusions that it’s going to be tough task and we are going to need to put a lot of work in both on and off the ice to get up to speed. That said I think with the team we have got, and looking at the additions we are bringing in, we have the ability and mind set to turn a few heads at that level. Last year was a phenomenal season for us as a club and we will be looking use the momentum of last year to take into this next season."

Scott will be wearing #14 next season and his individual players sponsorship is available for £250, interested parties can get in touch by emailing
